'Sexually Violent' Offender Reports Move In Mount Vernon

A registered "sexually violent" offender convicted of having "deviate sexual intercourse" with a teenage girl has reported a move in Westchester County.

The New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services issued an alert this week to Westchester residents regarding the residency of 24-year-old Mahlik Smith, who has reported a move from a residence on Homestead Avenue to an apartment on Dell Avenue in Mount Vernon.

The Division of Criminal Justice Services has assigned Smith as a level two threat, which means he is at "moderate risk of a repeat offense." He is also designated as a sexually violent offender.

According to the Division of Criminal Justice Services, Smith had deviate sexual intercourse, sexual intercourse and sexual contact, by using force, with his 16-year-old victim in July 2010. He was convicted of first-degree attempted criminal sexual act in June the following year and sentenced to a term of 42 months in state prison. Smith is now under the jurisdiction of the Mount Vernon City Police Department.
